Gown Inspirations

Gothic: The Gothic era provides some very dramatic style inspiration characterized by a series of extremes and extravagances, the voluminous gowns made using heavy fabrics in rich deep colours, rigid fitted bodices and corsets teamed with sumptuous full skirts, bustles and gathers of fabric, corset style lacing features and lace.
Gothic clothing uses uses dark shades instead of extravagant colours to go with the dark moon. These came from dark Velvets, dark fishnet, dark lace and dark gloves. One of the popular medieval costumes for women was the Gothic corset. The Gothic corset complimented the female body giving it an hourglass shape. It was a common Victorian and medieval costume for women and it's prominence is still intact today. However the latest trend of Gothic corset is not like the ones worn during the victorian and medieval period but is soft and convenient.
For the men, the Gothic trend includes light natural fiber shirts with ruffles, the loose fit and frilly pirate shirt with drooping shoulders and dark trousers, fitted ornate waistcoats.

Many Brides come to me and say that they are in love with the romance of a film or story such as Robin Hood Price of Thieves,  Merlin, The Lord of the Rings  and the like and want their wedding day to replicate this magic and romance, and of course the gown you choose to wear plays a massive part in doing so!
Some however have found us whilst looking for a gown to fit the feel or theme of their wedding venue. Some are getting married in castles, maybe even at Christmas time and are looking for a Medieval, Celtic or even slightly Gothic, dramatic dress to fit the setting. Others may be getting married in woodland and imagine a style linked with the nature and enchantment of an ancient and magical forest such as a dress with an elvish or fairy style influence. Other Brides tell me that they really wanted something with sleeves, or long floaty sleeves which of course many of our dresses have, or that they were looking for something in a wider range of colours or which they could customise to fit their wants and needs for their wedding dress.
Maybe you are just in love with that fashions and styles from a certain historical era and think how lovely it would be if your wedding dress had some of these style influences?

All these reasons and more are the reasons we make what we do, so that your gown will really make you feel like the 'bride' but will be made individually for your style and character.
